Stijn Oyen, General Manager of the W Hotel in Barcelona, received the European Hotel Awards 2019 trophy | General Manager of The Year , during the European Hotel Awards ceremony, in partnership with Champagne Collet, which took place at the Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva in Geneva.
The Jury of the European Hotel Awards and Jérôme Chapman , President and Founder of the European Hotel Awards by References, honored Stijn Oyen with the title General Manager of the Year 2019 – European Hotel Award. Among the eleven privileged winners of this institutional trophy, the European Hotel Award – General Manager of The Year trophy is a reward of high value, highlighting the great professionalism of the winner. During this evening Stijn Oyen was honored by Mr. Romain Fornell , member of the 2019 Selection Board.
Stijn Oyen, a path of excellence
Stijn Oyen has a very good career: He began his career with the Starwood Hotels & Resorts group where he held various positions in the F&B department at the Park Lane Hotel in London. His career will then take him to Sheraton La Caleta Resorts & Spa and Sheraton Stockholm , just before obtaining the position of General Manager at Sheraton Krakow (2011-2013). It was in September 2013 that he joined one of the world’s largest hotel groups, Marriott International .
Thus, he became general manager of the Maria Cristina hotel in San Sebastian in the Spanish Basque country, just before taking up the post of general manager of the W hotel in Barcelona . His great human qualities and his professional expertise make him an excellent director at the head of one of the flagship hotels of the Catalan capital.
