BOARD’S CHOICE 2026 — Recognising a contemporary model of European business hospitality

The European Hotel Awards have named Courtyard by Marriott Vilnius City Center Business Hotel of the Year 2026. The distinction recognises a property whose value to professional travellers is built not around one isolated facility, but around the coherence of location, accommodation, meetings, food and beverage and the wider relationship with Vilnius.

Represented by General Manager Lina Pariokienė, the hotel occupies a strategic position between the Lithuanian capital’s contemporary business activity and its historic centre. For the Board, that connection is central to the Award: business efficiency is strongest when it does not remove the traveller from the destination.

Why the European Hotel Awards selected Courtyard Vilnius

The Board’s assessment focused on the way the hotel brings its principal functions together. Its 199 rooms support both work and recovery; its meeting infrastructure includes five event spaces, with capacity for up to 140 guests in the largest room; and public areas allow professional conversations to continue naturally outside formal sessions.

This matters because contemporary business travel is no longer limited to a sequence of bedroom, meeting room and departure. Guests may work from their room, meet informally over coffee, move between appointments, attend an event and then need a genuine sense of rest. The hotel’s success lies in making those transitions feel simple.

A business hotel that remains connected to its city

The location places the Old Town and Gediminas Castle within easy reach while keeping guests close to the city’s professional and economic life. The Board considered this dual relationship particularly relevant at a moment when Vilnius is strengthening its position as a European business destination.

An international brand can provide consistency, but a strong city hotel must still communicate where it is. At Courtyard Vilnius, the relationship with the capital gives practical business travel a stronger sense of place and makes the stay more than a purely functional stop.

Operational coherence as a form of hospitality

Solt Dining contributes to the continuity of the guest journey by allowing dining and informal exchange to remain within the same operational rhythm. The Board did not assess technology, meeting rooms or connectivity as independent selling points. The recognition reflects the way these elements operate together and are translated into comfort by the hotel team.

Under Lina Pariokienė, the property demonstrates that business hospitality does not need spectacle to be distinctive. Precision, accessibility, clear organisation and human attention can themselves become a strong identity when they consistently reduce friction for the guest.
